The Fireflies learn, explore and grow within the framework of a consistent daily schedule.  They participate in morning circle time which always includes reading, singing, and review of the weekly concepts.  The Fireflies also have daily outside time, enjoy small and large group activities, and create something each day during art time.

Our Fireflies class will learn days, months, seasons and holidays, numbers through at least twenty, letter recognition and much more.  Older Fireflies will begin pre-reading and pre-writing skills with specific "learning time" activities, which encourage following directions and fine motor development.  Each child will be given a "workbook" to coordinate with the Handwriting Without Tears Program.

In keeping with our philosophy of care for the whole child, there is considerable focus on your child's social skills and emotional needs.  Following directions, sharing, cooperation, taking turns and conflict resolution are emphasized, as well as appropriate use of materials.  Fireflies who are in the process of toilet-training receive assistance and support with self-care skills.  All children are encouraged to demonstrate their growing independence and developing skills in the area of self-care.
